Who else read the American Girl books as a kid? My younger siblings are getting into them now as they go along with history studies so I have been reintroduced to it all!
These are what Itty Bitty humans look like. Animals are easier than people for me so humanish commissions are $2 instead of animals for $1 (will also take equivalent in dA point or Subeta moneyz). Commission info post to come soon, along with some more detailed traditional art, I promise!
Characters here are property of American Girl.
Going back to posting whatever I happen to have in my AG Folder, here’s this interesting sheet AG sent out eons ago. I think I found it on the AG Playthings forum a while back, and it probably came out around 1993/4 since A) there’s no mention of Josefina or anyone after Addy and B) there’s no mention of any websites, only phone numbers.
Because I have nothing better to do, I looked up to see if these places were still around. Fortunately enough, they are all still open! (Although checking out the Strawberry Banke site, they seem to look at a wide range of American History, not just the 1940s as this paper would lead you to believe.)
EDIT: I was searching around the old AG websites using the wayback machine, and the site had a suggestion for a museum to visit if you were interested in learning more about Josefina’s time period. I couldn’t get a screencap of the web page, but I did get the name Las Golondrinas, which still exists to this day.
Since when was AG in Life Magazine? (I know the cover says ‘Weekend of December 3 2004, but you know what I mean :P)
I may or may not start looking to see if this article is anywhere online.

(Photo isn’t mine; If you’re the original photographer and want credit, just let me know)
You may have noticed as you read the books as a kid that all of the girls in the historical AG line have birthdays in the spring, most of the birthdays happening from March to May. The only exceptions are Kirsten, whose birthday is on June 8th, and Kaya, whose culture doesn’t really have a celebration for birthdays (AG tends to celebrate it around the Nimipuu Salmon Runs Celebration, usually in August).
I usually like to celebrate each character’s birthday in some way, weather it’s just drawing that character in their birthday outfit or just making a mental note to myself. School and life tend to become stressful around this point in time I find, so celebrating these character’s birthdays in some way is a nice distraction for me.
I’d like to post something for each character on their birthday on this blog, but I’m still mulling over what I should post exactly. Be sure to keep your eyes pealed in the near-future!
